Biarritz to St Jean Travel, help required?

Time of past OR future Camino
Eternal Now
Due to fly to Biarritz this Wednesday 14th, flight arrives 5:05pm local time, airport bus departs at 5:21pm for Bayonne Train Station with the train departing at 6:06pm, would that be cutting it too fine? How long will disembarkation from the plane take, anyone know? I don't know whether to book accommodation in St Jean for the night or go for slightly more expensive Biarritz accom, thoughts? Or maybe other people are around too and want to split a taxi?

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Other peeps will come up with the information re-buses, trains, no doubt.
If you find you can't make it leisurely to StJean, I would take the bus to Bayonne and book the hotel next to the station, ready for the next day.

Buen camino :)

I would take the stress out of traveling and just stay a night in Biarritz and continue the next day. No real reason to arrive breathless in SJPdP. Buen Camino, SY

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
@Ryan Alexander, try contacting Caroline at Express Bourricot. She runs a very reliable shared taxi service and can let you know if there are others to share a ride off that flight. She's wonderful, and if there are others, the cost is quite reasonable--and door to door.:)

Biarritz has a small airport, and so it's fast to get out, but why stress?

Quite often airlines consider they have arrived when they touch the runway.

The time taken for the plane to taxi to the disembarkation point is on your time.

I usually allow 30 minutes to get off a plane and collect baggage. So I would plan on no move before 1735.

(In my experience they usually arrive late. Add two hours to allow for late arrival.)

Even if you arrive on time ... you have 31 minutes to find a taxi, get from the airport to Gare Bayonne, and board the train. It leaves promptly at 1806 so you have to allow 10 minutes to get from taxi to train while getting your ticket. Not enough time.

You cannot catch the 1806 train (unless it leaves late ... and it does wait for the train from Paris).

The train passes through Cambo les Bains at 1834. If you can get to a taxi before 1800 ... you might try an intercept ... but that could mean staying at Cambo les Bains for the night.

You could try taking a taxi to Gare Biarritz to catch the 1745 - 1755 train to Gare Bayonne. You'd need to be in the taxi not later than 1730.

Try planning on the 0745 train the next morning.

I'm sure you could find someone who told you about the time he made it ... and the train door near slammed on his butt.

Last time I arrived on that Ryanair flight from Stansted, I was towards the back of the plane and it took some 15-20 minutes to clear passport control

So, my guess is that getting to SJPP that evening will require a taxi not the bus

Ryan I'm on the same flight, and tried to book with Express Bouricott for the transfer due at 1745. Was told promptly that was full and offered one at 1815 at €19 which I booked. This was 10 days ago and this transfer may now be full. Don't ask don't get it was just an email request and they replied within a couple of hours. Got to be worth s try.

Yeah I was told it was full, which is good because I booked accom for the night anyway, see you tomorrow. :D

Safe travel to Stansted let the journey begin. Sure our paths will cross, I'm staying up at the Kayola by Orrison Thursday night, as they say slowly slowly catchey monkey!
I've not got a roof booked over my head for tomorrow night yet, but going with the flow.
Buen Camino, especially to those starting tomorrow who I may over the next month share the experience with.
