Hi, the monastery is in Irache. The beds in the cloister were set up for the movie. You cannot stay there, unfortunately! Jill

There are various monastic albergues along the Camino Frances. One that I stayed at, in an ancient and traditional monastery, is at Samos, on the alternate route from Triacastela to Sarria. It is a pleasant walk and an interesting, if rather basic, albergue. You can pray with the monks and tour their monastery. You might appreciate spending a night there.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
The old monastery albergue in Roncevalles is very simular to the one on "the way" it is still used for overspill ? from the main one. I fell out of the top bunk swinging to get up to my bunk paralell bars style between bunks, in the middle of the night, fell onto a German pilgrim whom was not please to see me and screamed loudly !!

Which one do you refer to? The one of the first day, the snorers hall, is the old refuge of Roncesvalles.
The one that comes later in the movie is a set-up that never, as far as I know, has been used in reality as a pilgrims refuge.
There are still some functioning monastery albergues, like Samos, on the Camino ...

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
