Bilboa to SJPP...

I tried in 09, it went horribly. Gonna try again. Aug/Sept this year
Hi all...

I am trying to make my last flight arrangement and trying to figure out where is best to fly into from Dublin. Will it be fairly easy to get to SJPP from Bilboa? I'm hesitant to book on RyanAir with all their additional charges and Aer Lingus flies into Bilboa. I've never been to Europe (from usa) and not feeling really confident right now. I don't know enough about the airlines and such. I appreciate any and all responses...

Thank you. Karla

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi,
I have just booked Biarritz from Dublin for me and my friend to start from St Jean. I have booked with Ryanair. I did consider Aer Lingus but it's much of a muchness with costs etc. I reckoned Biarritz was the more convenient. We are walking for about 12 days or so and flying out of Santander and hopefully picking up on the pilgrimage from where we leave off next year so maybe next time we will fly into Bilbao or Santander.
At the moment Ryanair are offering flights to Biarritz for Euro 4.99 plus taxes (a few weeks ago the same flight was for Euro 34.99) one way and obviously also depends on when you are flying. Aer Lingus are slightly more expensive and then you have the added cost of back tracking to St Jean.
All above just a thought.
Good Luck

From Bilboa, take the bus to Pamplona, then the bus to Roncesvalles. It might be easier to fly into Biarritz, where you can take a taxi or bus to the train station in Bayonne for the trip to SJPP. Much shorter to do that as well.

Hola!

I flew in to Bilbao, late afternoon, took a bus ( from the busstation where you come from the airport, easy). Going very fast, (the driver liked R.E.M) on an incredible motorway through the mountains to Donostia/San Sebastian.
Stayed there one night in a pension (25€), in the Old town. Easy to find, there are several. Maybe 1,5k from the busstation.
By the sunset I went up to the park on the magnificent little peninsula with the huge Christ statue overlooking this nice town. A holidayresort for the whealthy, for ages.
Next morning at 9 (or so) the bus left for Bayonne, via Biarritz. From the busstop there, it's a 20 min walk across the river to the trainstation for the SJPP train. Everybody knows who you are and where you're heading. Don't worry.

I'd rather be walking.
