Visually Impaired ONCE affiliated international volunteers and runners ArcelorMittal Foundation HEM Schwerger Foundation (Germany) will travel in tandem on the Camino de Santiago from Pamplona. Each tandem is composed of a volunteer and a blind person.
People from Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Spain, Luxembourg and South Africa will arrive in Pamplona on Monday.
In particular, at 17 hours will be a meeting where they can meet and learn to manage the tandems. In addition, a rehabilitation technician from ONCE offered the first guidelines on how to guide and support these people in day to day, since live together for several days.
The purpose of this meeting is that brokers know their peers, begin coexistence, tandems fit your needs, to conduct the first trials and give the first pedaling together, trying to coordinate and prepare for more than 800 miles that separate them from Santiago de Compostela.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
And we had a blind pilgrim arrive in the office today who had walked in tandem with a sighted pilgrim. They were both over the moon at having completed their pilgrimage individually and together. The more ways we find to help people with disabilities access the Camino the better.

More power to them.
