Boots or walking shoes in September?

Hilary

New Member
I bought a new pair of Scarpa boots last November to ensure they were fully walked-in before setting off in September. the problem is - my right foot always aches after I have worn them for a few hours! This does not inspire confidence!
What is everyone's opinion about optimum footwear?
Do you think that I could manage with a pair of very comfortable walking shoes instead?
Thanks.
Un saludo!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Foot Ache

How long did you try to break them in?

if you are comfortable they are broken in, and they still make your feet ache, and you want to salvage the purchase, an obvious suggestion would be to change out the insoles for another, different pair. If this does not work, start over. At least consider that the tread of the Camino is not so severe as to demand much beyond a pair of low-cut hiking, or even jogging shoes. So, wear what you are comfortable in. many even do it in hiking sandals. many do it in heavy, stiffer boots. Go with what makes you comfortable, but whatever you take-even for sandals, make sure they are well broken in.

boots or walking shoes?

Thanks for your advice, John.
My left boot feels well broken-in, so it must be the shape of my right foot!
I have given up on my boots for the camino and am bringing my walking shoes instead.
Thanks again,
Un saludo!
