Bought my boots

It feels official now - I have bought the boots I am taking to walk the Camino
They are replacement boots for the ones I have been wearing. I've hiked a bunch in the old ones, so it was time for a replacement. I have 2 months before we leave, so time for several hikes in the mean time to break them in and get the boots happy. This weekend will be the inaugural hike for the new boots. Woohoo!!!

what brand and model of boots do you have?? - if you don't mind me asking that is??

I plan to start my Camino from SJPDP on the 7th of June....still do not have my footwear but will be trekking in Nepal for 2 months before arriving in France, so they should be well broken in by then

Fwiw moabs were very poor for me. My view is that these are not suitable for people who are heavy....

I love my Merrill's. The thing I love the most is that they provide great ankle support and cushioning. Mines are half-size larger and that works fine.

I have been hiking for several months in Merrill's Moab. They are not Goretex but they are waterproof... great. I also need the ankle support and cushioning. When I was younger I hiked in sport shoes or even in sandals.... those days are gone. Since sometimes my ankle seems to turn or just "go out", these seem to keep me more stable. I bought men's instead of women's to get the sizing right.

I've tried a few different brands of boots over the years, but settled on Merrills. They work well for my feet, and they do give good ankle support, even the low tops. Everybody's feet are different. Both my husband and my dad swear by Keens boots, which is probably the only thing that they agree on in this world - LOL. Family harmony through hiking boots

The Moab goretex models are stiffer than the ordinary in-house waterproof model and therefore not so comfy.
I don't know about the comparative effectiveness.
The "in-house" waterproof models are around $20 cheaper - that's effective!
The moabs are also available in 1/2 sizes and in wide fitting.
This year I'm going for 1/2 size larger than usual and getting the wide version and "in-house"waterproofing.
Don't really know why I'm changing as the previous ones worked fine and I never got one blister.
Just stooopid I guess.
