Good Evening and Happy New year to all:

I read in a post, I think on this forum, that the older version of Brierley's guide is now available on line. I believe it's the 2010 6th Edition. I have the book but would love to be able to pick out particular pages. In fact, I must confess, I actually went to the link and briefly looked at it. Now, alas, the rigors of age deny me the ability to remember where the heck that is.

Can anyone help this addled one?

Many thanks in advance,
Tio

I just looked at the link falcon posted, and I don't think the whole book is there. There are pages missing from the online version (38-62, for example), and when you click the "next" button, you get two more identical parts of the book. I was looking to see what he had to say about the part of the France from Melide onwards and couldn't find those sections, for instance. It would seem strange to find a book still under copyright for free on the internet. In fact, I wonder how google can put up as much as they did. What is this google book thing anyway?

Thanks, Laurie

it's not a whole book, it's what they call 'preview', analogous to looking at a book in a shop before buying.

"To help you decide whether you want to buy a Google eBook, you can in most cases preview a sample of the book's pages for free before purchase"

Google do not themselves sell books, so if you click on 'Get Print Book' it will give you some booksellers or offer to find it in a public library for you.

I'd better amend that: Google do sell e-books, but that Brierley one is not available as an ebook, so they give you the Get Print Book option,

I would have thought it highly unlikely a free pdf is available anywhere - at least, unless it's a pirated version.

I asked the library to order this book some months ago but it still hasn't arrived and I was able to decide from the 'preview" that this is the book I'd like to buy. Thanks for pointing this out.

Falcon,
Thanks for the info.

The link does provide an incomplete text as Mr Robbins points out. I have the book but wanted to pull out appropriate pages rather than trash the book.
