Time of past OR future Camino

Hey all - hope everyone is well. My husband and I have each walked the Camino Frances (me - May 2015, hubs - Sept 2016) and we are planning to do it together this fall. I've been looking for the latest Brierly Guide (or at least trying to find out when the next one will be released). Amazon has the most recent being dated November 2017. The Camino Store from this site says the 2018 edition is shipping but doesn't have an actual date. Does anyone know what the most recent edition is? Thank you all so much and buen Camino!!

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

The 2018 Brierley guide is currently listed on the camino store as "now shipping," which means that you can order it from there and it will be shipped to you now. It includes a free credencial. If you want it, order it.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The newest guide is the 2018 and is the 15th edition, and has been available for a few months now. In looking at both the 2017 and 2018 editions, I cannot see much of any significant change, however. And both versions weigh the same amount, at 9.65 ounces. Brierley's maps-only book contains the same stage maps and elevation profiles, and basic accommodation information, but is 3.60 ounces in weight.

This is the Amazon link. Ignore the date of the printing, which Amazon states is November, 2017. That is the 15th edition. I would strongly encourage you to make the purchase through the Forum Store, as that helps Ivar, which also helps the Forum. :);)

I have the latest 2018 edition purchased in a store in Vancouver, British Columbia.

I have been doing all my planning on a 2014 edition of Brierley. I do my first Camino, the Francès, starting Sep18. Maybe a silly Q, but would there be value in updating to the 2018 edition? I would purchase through Ivar of course. question. Thanks in advance. Cooee

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Speaking of the Frances specifically, I have found that only the most basic of guide is needed and I now only carry a Brierley maps only guide. Also, again IMO, you do not have to have the most updated of guidebooks, but obviously if you are buying your first one, buy the most recent. All the different guidebooks sold on this forum look good and quite capable of getting a pilgrim to Santiago in one piece, ha ha. :D
Also they are a good deal because they come with a set of pilgrim credentials. Nice.

Just received the new guides (Wise Pilgrim and Brierley) from Ivar, delivered to Seattle home in eight (8) days. Great service and the complimentary credentials are a nice touch. Also, great to read and remember names and places as I get ready to hike the Camino Frances a second time (Sept 2013 was the first time). Friends are suggesting we switch and try the Camino Portuguese, so I bought that guidebook (Brierley) as well. Interesting route, but doesn't seem to be as well provisioned with rooms/services from Lisbon to Porto, at least when compared to the Frances route.

Not so much for the maps and route information, nor for the historical stuff. But the information on accommodations would be less up to date in the 2014 edition (which would be based on 2013 information gathering). Booking.com, and the latest listings of albugues from the forum (go to 'Resources' listed in the menu bar at the top of the page) can provide for that information.

Thanks All for the feedback. Hang the expense - I’ve ordered one from Ivar - along with the Credencial. Got the Wise Pilgrim app as well. I accept that I’m probably over-planning at this stage - too long in the military. Hope the Camino slows me down. Cooee

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

It leaves Brierly for dead.
