la empresa Hórreos del Camino say that red tape has slowed down plans to build 7 luxury hotels on the Camino Frances between o Cebreiro and Santiago and these will no longer be ready for the 2010 Holy Year.
Apart from accommodation, the hotels will offer services such as baggage transfers at every stage, medical service and a car to pick up pilgrims who are unable to withstand the rigors of stage and have to be moved by car.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
I actually had coffee with the director of these hotels yesterday, and he told me that they are delayed due to permits taking longer than they thought in each of the municipalities. He told me they hoped to open mid 2011.

I saw the paper used the words "luxury hotels", but I got the impression that they would be more mid to upper range hotels (what is luxury hotel I guess depends on the eyes). These will not be 5 star hotels.

That said, the director also works at the Parador in Santiago (!), although these new hotels are not related to the Parador in any other way.

Perusing some interesting posts, down memory lane, I came across this post in 2009, due for completion in Mid 2011.
Have these luxury hotels been completed ?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
No they have not, but I saw something in the papers that mentioned that the project might be picked up again.... but if this is done, it will take years before anything is completed.
