Hi all
I am arriving in Burgos by bus on Sunday 30 April this year arriving hopefully around 7:30 pat the bus station. The hotels on Booking.com look a bit exopensive so looking for a albergue or hostel. I have stayed previously at the Association up behind the cathedral but I suspect the may be full by that hour.
There's Hostel Catedral Burgos that looks close to the Cathedral or the hostel at the bus station which doesn't seem to be able to be booked online
Anyone had any experience with this?
I suspect its a busy time as many of the accomodation is unavailable for that date on booking.com

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
frasert,
Whatever you can book now for that date do.
May 1, 2023, is a public holiday in France, Spain and Portugal. It is Labor day/ Fête de Travail/ Día del Trabajador / Dia do Trabalho. Much will be closed. In 2023 it occurs on a Monday. Multitudes of tourists will travel that weekend.Transport and accommodation is usually heavily booked in advance.

Be prepared !!

So you are starting your Camino in Burgos?
When I arrived in Burgos, I stayed at the Hotel Londres right in the city because it would be one of my rest days. I enjoyed the comfortable respite.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
I stayed in the Hostel Catedral Burgos last year and really liked it.
They have private rooms as well as dorms separated by sex, breakfast comes with your room and they have a nice restaurant/cafe on the ground floor that is open all day and evening.

I've stayed in the hostel above the bus station, it was alright. Can you book it through a hostel website? I just walked in, but wasn't there on a holiday. Have also stayed just outside of the city, on the way west, booked at booking.com, it was nice, breakfast at 7, though, next door to a bar You could try Tardajos, too, not all places were bookable online, but there are a few. I've stayed in the municipal multiple times, and once at the first hotel. I'll try to look up the name.

Oh, the Burgos was Hostel Abadia, and the place in Tardajos was Albergue Turistica La Fabrica. I think I found them through the Wise Pilgrim guidebook app.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Stay at the municipal albergue. It is on the Camino. It is a really well run and clean albergue.
or at this muni. I have never stayed there but have always heard really good things about it.

The OP is asking about accommodation in Burgos - not Pamplona
Duhhhhh ok then he can stay in the muni in Burgos that one is good too!!!:):):)
P.S. Now he knows where to stay if he goes through Pamplona another time also!!!! I am just a wealth of information!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would recommend that other muni in Burgos but I know it is pretty far away from the centro historico. I guess if he doesn't want to stay near the cathedral that may be a good alternative too as they have a communal dinner too. You sure can't beat those communal dinners.
Thanks Bradypus. As I get older and far less wise and with less acuity I need people like you to get me back on track!!👍👍👍

There are a number of cheaper hotels in Villafria on the N-1 highway. This is to the east of Burgos. The camino follows the highway into town but so do buses. We stayed at the Buenos Aires, dated but clean. It has a restaurant and a cafe where you sit outside at the bus stop. It is at the end of the line so when the bus turns around to head back into town that's where you get off. As I wrote there are others but I'll give you the Google Maps link to Buenos Aires and you can look for them to the west.

Early June of '22 - 2 nights in Hostal Carales; private room with shared bathroom IIRC was about $42.00\night
Maybe about 10-15 mins tops to Arco de Santa María and 30 seconds to see the Cathedral after that :)

The food at that restaurant is amazing--both quality and quantity.

I stayed already twice at Hotel Boutique Museo de Burgos. Located next to Museo de la Humanidad, close to the river. Additionally not far from the bus station.
It cost me around 50 € per night, single room.
Buen Camino!

Just stayed at Hostal Campus in a private room for 47€. It was supposed to be a dbl but my friend had to go home. Really clean & on the edge of Burgos by the university. Highly recommend this place. Saves the long walk through the city to leave.
