Hi I am looking into getting from S.D.C. to O Cebriero in mid September,I know I can get Asla bus to nearby but I would loose too much time.
By googleing it looks like another bus company goes from S.D.C. to Santa Irena and then go by taxi for last 6 km to O.C.
Unfortunatly there is no english option for the site Transporte Galicia and my Spanish is very bad.
I was wondering can someone help me please?

I don't know if this link helps you, and you have to be careful that the info is still accurate post lockdown. You can use translate on some internet search browsers it maybe work having a try with it.

I meant to add that going via Lugo is probably your only option from Santiago or the airport, on my last Camino at Xmas and new year one of our group who was Gallego and from SDC went home for Xmas when we went through Ponferrada, he tried to meet up again with us in Tricastilla via blah blah car which fell through, we met up eventually in Sarria after he had got a bus via Lugo and changed there.

Hi ,
I know that there is a bus to Lugo and from Lugo the bus to Piedrafita Do Cebreiro.
And than to O Cebreiro a 5min. taxi ride.
Buen Camino

I fear that Google and in particular Rome2Rio fooled you. Their Cebreiro is not the Cebreiro you want (see screenshot from Rome2Rio below), your destination is much further to the east. The question of how to get there has been asked many times on the forum but it's not easy to retrieve the good answers.

From memory, in your case, the best option by bus is indeed the fairly frequent bus from Santiago via Melide to Lugo, then a bus from Lugo to Piedrafita de Cebreiro, then a taxi to the small village of O Cebreiro itself. Taxi trips are frequent there and easy to get (I'd book though). Another option is bus to Lugo, bus to Portomarin, and finally bus directly to O Cebreiro but for the latter section there is just one bus per day and I wouldn't even bother to figure out how to combine the three or four bus options necessary for such a trip and how long the journey would take overall.

Yes ,Rome2rio,mislead me. Thank you for your suggestion Via Lugo.
Rome2Rio is in general quite good but not perfect and it fails spectacularly for O Cebreiro itself. When you explore the timetables that will suit you best, enter not only Santiago de Compostela as the starting point but also Santiago de Compostela airport.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Thank you all, I wanted to aboid losing a day due to travel,in september i can get asla bus that arrives near O Cebreiro about 1 am,too late to book in anywhere.I will have to sleep somewhere outdoors and begin walking at dawn.

Thank you Jill. The attached timetable for Lugo to Pedrafita is in opposite direction, Pedra... to Lugo,I would be very greatful if you could find me the Lugo to Pedrafita?

It’s on the right hand side of the same schedule; start at the bottom and read upwards.

Remember that there is Piedrafita do Cebreiro (that's the village where the bus arrives) and O Cebreiro (in the Camino) proper. Adding to the confusion, sometimes "Cebreiro"(the name in Galego) is written as "Cebrero" (in Spanish). Just ask or look for for "Piedrafita".
There are taxis, but I walked from the town to O Cebreiro -less than an hour, with very fine sights (and a good climb). Loot it at Google Maps.

Besides the albergue, there are two hostals in O Cebreiro.
Altenatively, you can start walking right away, and sleep at Liñares (3 km from O Cebreiro' albergue), Condesa (6 km) or Fonfría (12 km).
As for your plans to sleep outdoors, remember that this is a mountainous area -even in September, it could be quite cold by nights.
Buen camino!

It would be a shame to take the time to travel to O Cebreiro, but not take the time to see the village
