We just wondered if there were any buses between these two places, if we couldn't handle incredible heat. We have found that we can get a cab, if we choose to go that way...thanks for answering. Just for interest, I am a 76 year old mom, turning 77 on St. James day of July 25. Travelling with my 2 daughters. Having finished the French routes when I was a mere child of 50-60. We all decided that this is the year I finally finish all the way to Santiago de Compestela.

Hi Carolet! Welcome to the forum!

You can take a bus from Ambasmestas (something like 1 or 2 kms before Vega de Valcarce) to Pedrafita do Cebreiro with Alsa (www.alsa.es/en). From Pedrafita do Cebreiro to Triacastela, Monbus (www.monbus.es) has a bus six days per week departing early in the a.m. so you would need to stay in Pedrafita do Cebreiro to take it.

P.S.: So far, it isn't a (specially) hot year on that area of Spain.

I used this bus earlier in the year from Fonfria. My wife and I had originally planned to catch it at O Cebreiro, but had the energy to walk onto Fonfria the previous day, and catch it from there. The route is along the LU-633, so it can be hailed at a number of places along the CF, including O Cebriero, Linares, Hostipal de la Condesa, Padornelo, Fonfria and Biduedo before Triacastela. The bus leaves Pedrafita do Cebreiro around 6.45 am and on the day I caught it it was pretty much on schedule when it arrived at Fonfria. There are no bus stops so far as I can tell - you need to be on the road and signal it when it approaches.

Yes, I took the same bus in Liñares (after O Cebreiro). There was an "orange alert", and the weather was impossible, even dangerous, in the mountain.
The bus will not stop unless you hail it. Notice that it is rather a minibus and go quite fast, so be attentive. If it is still dark or foggy, light up your cellphone and raise it in your hand, so the driver can see you.
I was the "designated bus hailer" :) for a little group that stood waiting in the warmth of the hostal, so I have, literally, first hand experience.

Hi everyone! I would greatly appreciate your suggestions for the best summer beaches in Galicia that are easily accessible by car or bus from Santiago de Compostela. Thanks!
Hi - I've been waiting to book 2 June from Santiago dC to Madrid - finally the tickets are out! Funnily enough the luxury seats were cheaper than economy seats, so I took one.
