Busing to the Camino in 2021

Time of past OR future Camino
First one in 1977 by train. Many since then by foot. Next one ASAP.
I'm a big fan of bus travel in Spain, and have been frustrated for many months by the fact that I was unable to book September 2021 bus tickets on line -- the whole virus/shut-down thing, of course.... Well, the times they are a-changing! As of this week, September bus tickets are bookable again! Amen! I recommend booking them through the Movelia website, with which I have never had a problem.

Rome2Rio can also be useful.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Alsa offer the longer distance buses I think. I've had difficulty in the past finding and checking their timetables online so glad to hear about new ways of finding them. IF you're walking a stage and thinking of returning to do more you could photograph the timetable.

When I deplane at MAD-BARAJAS after a long trans-Atlantic flight, I love the fact that I can walk straight to the ALSA bus station at Terminal 4, climb aboard, and be off to wherever I'm starting from .... Simple, cheap, comfortable. And usually as fast as the train. What's not to like!?!

I am encouraged that an ALSA bus can be comfortable! My only (and theoretically, last) time on ALSA was an overnight bus from Santiago to Madrid. It was horrible.

Me too! When I first discovered the bus to Pamplona , I traveled all the way by the Metro to 'Americana' and low and behold it took me all the way back to T4 before continuing. Yes , sometimes one has to change once en route but the Pamplona bus stop is only a few blocks away from reasonably priced accommodation in the Old Town whereas the train dumps you with a two mile hike or a taxi ride to the same area.
As a matter of interest , on one occasion it started snowing which settled quite substantially. The driver continued , plodding on at a much reduced speed ...........but he did get us there.
I told him he was a champion when we alighted at Pamplona ........ and so he was.
