First Time from Sarria to Santiago
Hi im new to forum. Due to french air strike we have had to reschedule flight and arrive in Santiago Saturday late 11th May. We need to travel to Sarria the following day. I cant seem to find a bus service that day and the train fare seems pretty steep. We are four seniors (60's) Any tips please. Linda Anne

The usual bus route is to travel from Santiago to Lugo and change buses there for one to Sarria. Empresa Freire bus to Lugo. Monbus from Lugo to Sarria.

If you are having trouble finding a route from A to B. try going from B to A on the schedule. Sometimes a stop is not indicated by the specific town you are looking for. It can be a neighboring town, a train depot,, or even a crossroad.

I used the bus from the airport to the city of Lugo, and took another bus from Lugo to Sarria. Don’t know how late buses keep running, but I do know that there are several inexpensive hotels near that airport. You all could get a room(s) if need be and start out the next morning through Lugo to Sarria the next morning. It would get you in early enough to start walking towards Portomarin. There are a good number of private B&Bs/small hotels as well as public albergues all along that route before getting to Portomarin. So you would have a choice as to how far you might want to walk that day. Buen Camino!
