Buying hiking poles in Biarritz or SJPdP?

I am flying into Paris with a very short time window to make my connecting flight to Biarritz, so I am hoping not to have to check my pack but rather carry it on the plane with me. I *think* it meets the size restrictions, but I'm guessing that I probably cannot carry on hiking poles. So...I'm wondering if I can count on buying poles in either Biarritz or SJPdP, which I will certainly need before setting out over the Pyrenees. Any advice would be appreciated.
