Film Screening: Walking the Camino
Walking the Camino: Six Ways to Santiago follows various pilgrims, from ages three to 73, as they attempt to cross an entire country on foot—with only a backpack, a pair of boots and an open mind. Driven by an inexplicable calling and a grand sense of adventure, each pilgrim throws themselves heart and soul into their physical trek to Santiago de Compostela, and most importantly, their personal journey to themselves. Walking the Camino presents universal themes through personal stories for those seeking to redefine the way they live their lives, to deepen their relationship with themselves, and to rediscover their connection with the world in which they live. Following the screening, Stephanie Dodaro will speak and answer questions. Stephanie is a writer and long-distance hiker, born and raised in San Francisco. She walked Spain’s Camino de Santiago trail in March 2011. In winter 2011, she scouted, mapped, and walked a route along California’s historic, 800-mile El Camino Real. She raised money to fund the trip then published a free, online trail guide for the route. Details on her adventures can be found at: http://walkelcaminoreal.com/

I saw this film today and enjoyed it. There were some surprise guests in attendance. Two of the film's subjects ~ Wayne and Jack. They introduced the film and answered questions after. Jack played his harmonica for us, which he does briefly in the film. Lovely men and a really wonderful afternoon.

This is a very informative film. It is much more realistic that the movie The Way. Of course The Way got me interested. After I watched a screening of Walking the Camino, I immediately turned to my wife and told her, "I have to go there." She responded, "Go for it." I believe that this film will be available on DVD in just a few weeks. Highly recommended for anyone interested the Camino experience.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

This may seem petty since the actual donation cost was minimal, but in February 2024, I sent some money to American Pilgrims (americanpilgrims.org) for two credentials in advance of an April 2024...
