Caminho from Lisbon on Youtube

I was on the Via Lusitana's web page recently, and they have posted this very nice 12 minute youtube with pictures from Lisbon to Santiago. It was made by an Italian peregrino, so the captions are in Italian, but it's pretty obvious what they're saying.

It reminded me that there is more off-road walking than I remember between Lisbon and Porto. And it has some good shots to show the very wide paved shoulder that is usually there when you have to walk on the side of a busy road. And finally, you can see several pictures of sleeping accommodations in the Bombeiros Voluntarios (firefighters) to give people an idea of what that might be like.

so, if you're considering walking from Lisbon, take a look. Laurie

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Thanks Laurie for sharing this excellent video on the Portuguese Way.

I have put off walking the Portuguese route until the infrastructure from Lisbon gets better. I am pleasantly surprised to see more trails than road on this path. Will definitely consider this road for the future.

Hi, Evan,

I remember relying on your advice for the Vdlp. Have you been walking lately?

A friend is setting out from Lisbon tomorrow, and I will report back on what he finds along the way. The weather looks stunning -- 60s and sunny for as far out as they predict!

Bom caminho, Laurie

Hi Laurie,

Unfortunately not since my VLDP in '08. I am however planning Camino del Norte in May after 4 years, but who knows, could switched over to the Portuguese route (via Lisbon) if it is viable route.

Cheers.
