Camino Angel needed: fly a pup to Sweden!

Rebekah Scott

Camino Busybody
Time of past OR future Camino
Many, various, and continuing.
All you pilgrims whose hearts are moved by the plight of Spanish dogs:

Ruby Pup was dumped in a ditch in Moratinos a couple of weeks ago. She is now vetted and microchipped and gaining weight and confidence. We´ve found a possible new home and owner for her, but he´s in Sweden! (We´d keep her ourselves, but we already have FIVE former strays...)

We can take care of most of the logistics, her new owner agreed to pay her travel expenses and meet her soon as she hits native soil... but we cannot ship Ruby into Sweden unless she travels with a human. Is anyone flying or driving from Spain to anywhere near Stockholm or Göthenberg in the next month or two?

Consider this your opportunity to "give back to the Camino," and help a cute little dog start a new life in a new land. If you can help, please contact me via "conversations."

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Is there anyway of making sure our Salvador-Primitivo Susannah sees this?

Must be a Swedish pilgrim out there on the Camino .. they will be going home ... anyone on Camino checking in could start asking around I guess ...

(nice thing to do, that rescue xxx)

Bless your heart for such kindness. I would do it in a heartbeat but I'm not even in Spain. Not that I need much of an excuse to get myself to Spain. I hope to make it back next summer. By the way who are you that you are rescuing Spanish pups?

Robin, I am not a professional pup rescuer, despite appearances to the contrary (we have five dogs, all of them former camino strays). I am a regular expat person who lives along the camino frances, and takes in strays of all kinds and species.

So far the two-legged ones all eventually move on and find their way home.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Ruby still needs a ride to her new home in Sweden.
She can be picked up in Malmoe, Gothenburg or Stockholm (international airports).
:)

My Heart goes out to this Pup and whoever it is that is rescuing. I have not the resources to help; but as an ex heavy good driver who knows Spain and Sweden, and everything in between very well..............I would love to give my time to help.

You all are such kind, thoughtful people, some would say it's just a dog & when you think about it, that is what it is...........makes it such a special act of kindness......hope the little lady has a great home in Sweden........just wish I could help in some way.......:):)........Vicrev

the owner-to-be will come to Spain to volunteer on the camino in the spring. If no one steps up to take her north before then, she´ll just have to hang out here for a while. Ruby is growing like a weed and filling-out, she´s grown a thick coat of golden fur for winter. She looks like a little Eewok!

Hi Rebekah. Can you post a pic of Ruby? I know it's not camino but I'm sure no one will mind.

Have you still not found anyone? I'd do it in a heartbeat. Anyone want to fly me to Spain first? I'm going to pick up heaps of trash off the Via Frances while I'm at it.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
