I can report that the Royal Suite at the Parador in Santiago is worth every penny. I slept like a king last night. And today I will watch other pilgrims arrive from its balcony overlooking the Cathedral and the square. And please don't tell the royal couple, but the first thing I did was put my boots up on the royal desk and took a picture.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Is there a bar in the Parador which overlooks the square? It would be a good place to sip something cool to celebrate the end of the long walk.

Unfortunately, no, the bar does not overlook the Plaza.
Nonetheless, it is a fine place to have a celebratory bottle of Cava with your Camigos.
;)

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Hi Robert, well done with your completing the Camino Frances. I'm almost there still 4 day's walking ahead. I be there on Sunday after walking the last 20km together to Santiago. Again well done, Peter.

There is an outside patio bar that has a view of the square. But the main bar is indoors without a view of the square.

Oh, Robert, having been there twice in cold, rainy, windy October, I completely forgot about the patio.
I hope you have a chance to use it. :D

I remain, so jealous.

Peter, there is an amazing albergue in Salceda, if you find yourself near there and need a place to stay. We got the overflow room as the main albergue was full. Overflow: two beds, sheets, blankets, towels (lots!), private bathroom with shower with tonnes of hot water, TV, closet... it was, in fact, a hotel room for 7 EU (and breakfast was included!) The alberque is attached to a resort hotel; the owner (Santiago!) converted his grandmother's house--I think he said it was 200 years old--into the hotel and albergue. It's about 200 m off the main trail, veer to the left when you get to Salceda. It's a little oasis right when you need one! Pousada de Salceda is the name of the place. Buen Camino! Congratulations on not too much farther to go!

We are a day behind you, but then I only have short legs! See you in a bar somewhere again?

Hi, yesterday at 12.00 hrs. was the time that I was on the square before the cathedral after 37 day's of walking from SJPDP. And it was wonderful. I wish everybody the same great experience as I had. Wish you all a Buen Camino, Peter.

Bravo Peter! Glad to learn that your camino went well. Enjoy your time in Santiago. Will you be walking on ' to the end of the world' ?

Ultreia!

Hi Margaret, I walked last year with my wife from Sarria to Finistere. My wife walked from Sjpdp to Santiago in 2013 and I did it this year. The plan for next year is to walk from Porto to Santiago. And after next year? ??? .I wish you well, Peter.
