• We are struggeling with some issues with images and attachments not loading on the forum. This is some left-over problems from the other day. We have back-ups of everything, so nothing is lost, we just need to link things up again so that it works. In short, we are working on it. Sorry! Ivar

Camino de San Frutos

The "Adelantado", a Segovia's newspaper, and a group of volunteers are promoting the Camino de San Frutos. This Saint was a 8th century hermit (also known as "the fowler" :) ) , who is the local saint patron. This started as a program for the reintegration of inmates (which, if you want to know, is kind of a time-honored Camino tradition) and they hope this Camino (77 kms) will attract walkers and pilgrims. There is a webpage, maps, and a glossy online guide. The highlights are the very interesting Pedraza medieval city, the Castilnovo castle and the Duratón National Park.
Seems interesting.

Btw, I posted this under "Camino de Madrid", bcs I could not find an "other Spain routes" section. If I am wrong, please redirect it to the pertinent place.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Some tips:

The ermita de San Frutos Pajarero (where the camino ends) is a great place to see sunset.

Pedraza can be (really) busy on weekends.

Be aware this camino ends in a hermitage in a meander in the middle of a Natural Park (i.e.: it doesn't end in any village/town/city). Closest accommodation would be, if I'm not wrong, a CTR in Villaseca (de Sepúlveda).

If you sleep in Villaseca, I would suggest to walk next day till Selpúveda (following the signed Senda from the Puente de Villaseca (a bridge close to Villaseca) to the Puente de Talcano (a bridge close to Sepúlveda) to enjoy the Hoces del Duratón Natural Park but be aware that to visit some areas of the Natural Park (the áreas de reserva) on some months you need a permit issued by the Casa del Parque in Sepúlveda (contact details for the Casa del Parque can be found here:
