Yep, 7pm it is. Nice way to start the journey. Buen Camino!Nice one! I recommend attending the pilgrim blessing in the chapel next door (usually 7pm I think?). A great way to set you on your way with a fair wind in your sails (so to speak..). Buen camino!
Did the nuns make you go to the evening service? It is a lovely albergue and the Griffin bar in the square is excellent.Made it to Leon and staying at the Santa Maria De Carbajal Albergue run by the Benedictine Sisters.
Accommodation for the night 8 Euros. First stamp and really looking forward to the adventure. Off tomorrow and see how far I get

If you mean that first section out of Leon yes, it's not the greatest, but better lies ahead...Found it a bit boring and not too scenic. But as I have read it’s all part of the Camino experience. cheers Chris.
yep, went to the service and had a beer at Griffin. CheersDid the nuns make you go to the evening service? It is a lovely albergue and the Griffin bar in the square is excellent.
Buen Camino!
Chris, thanks for the updates. Nice to see the old juice bar again, that used to be run by David from Brazil a few years back. I hope the blisters improve overnight and good luck up and over the hill...Better scenery today and a great stop off at La Casa de los Dioses where the guy stays and sleeps 24/7 and has food etc for a donation.
Thanks Tom, minus 1 at the moment and just having some breakfast. Hopefully blisters don’t bother me. CheersChris, thanks for the updates. There were a few people there. Myself and a chap from Barcelona waited until it was free for photos.Chris, nice one. Interesting to see you alone by the Cruz. Last November it was pretty busy.
Seems like the blisters aren't holding you back.. Ultreya!
Chris, I'm really sorry to hear about your injuries and I'm sure you know best, but this does sound quite drastic! Could you not recuperate in Ponferrada a couple of days, try JW's bandages plus any other remedies that forum members recommend, and then restart from Sarria?hen tomorrow getting a bus to Santiago. Not the way I wanted to get there but that’s life.
Thanks Tom. My original thought was to try from Sarria, but the skin keeps splitting and bleeding. If able I can go back to Sarria, but I have flights to consider as well. Thanks for the encouragement.Chris, I'm really sorry to hear about your injuries and I'm sure you know best, but this does sound quite drastic! I'm unclear whether you've done Sarria-Santiago previously...
Best wishes, tom
