Camino de norte
Hi

Some friends and I are cycling Camino del norte from Colunga to Santiago de Compostela in July and wondered whether anyone had the GPX navigation files they were able to share?

Thanks

Andy

...I am correcting myself... if you click the "Download Link" button. Takes you here:

...and then scroll down a bit, you will see that the one for the Camino Del Norte was updated October 2021.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

A route on your Garmin / Smartphone / Personal Nav System for following a camino is, in my opinion, mostly unnecessary nowadays, especially if you're cycling. The routes are generally well signed, there will often be peregrinos on the route you're following, the Camino del Norte is not a prescribed route like the CF and a following the blue line takes a lot of fun and sense of adventure out of the ride. As above the Buen Camino app is very good, try Wikoloc or Komoot for routes if you need them. There is also some great advice by Mikadelic on the "Bicycling the Camino" sub-forum.

Hi Andy

Have you traveled this route before? I am planning a similar trip along the Camino del norte this summer covering some 60 to 90 km per day with my boyfriend who is very fit. I am concerned whether I would be able to manage the ride as I am quite a bit older? If you have any feedback or intel it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Barry, not the OP but I will reply for a couple of reasons; this forum is not really cycling oriented and the OP is probably fishing for info and has most likely not ridden the route previously. Your question is rather vague; how fit is you BF, how unfit are you, how much older than someone whose age you don't give? For example some days 60km can be hard but on other days 90km is easy; a lot depends on how you're feeling, did you eat enough the previous evening, what's the weather doing, how is the terrain, are you riding road or trail, any mechanical problems etc. In a few words the north coast of Spain is a great place to visit, ride, tour, experience. The hills are steep and brutal but generally short (100 - 250m ascents) though perhaps worse in Galicia. Don't over plan / over think / over pack just enjoy the ride, it's easier than you may think.

PS try some of the cycle touring forums for more info...............

Plan to cycle between Burgos and Leon over three or four days. Are there any interesting detours between these two cities that would take up a 4th day?
