A few years ago, we walked from Bilbao to Santander.
We found the route well-marked.
We only met a few people on the way. It was certainly not busy like the CF.
It's a lovely route - have a Buen Camino!

Hi, the route is well marked and very easy to follow, I had no map or guide book and just followed the arrows all the the way from Irun to Santiago. I walked in May/June 2013 and there were lots of other pilgrims, usually somewhere between 20 and 30 in the larger albergs each night. There was always company when I wanted it, but room for solitude when I felt like walking alone. The camraderie between the pilgrims was really nice, I made some lifelong friendships on the trip. The Norte is different from the Frances, but just be open to a different camino and whatever comes along, and you will have a great time.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Yesterday, at about half past seven o'clock, when it was already dark, came to my village four very young pilgrims from China. Wondered San Esteban. When I told them that we were about four miles to go, it started to get nervous and almost mourn, especially a young woman who was with them. In the end I had to take the car for fear of being lost or run over when night fell. Avilés guess they left so I do not know how they could take so long to do half step. Please, be very well planned steps to not wear such scares.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Last May I walked the first part of the Norte in the opposite direction, from Santander to Irun. Since I only had two weeks and couldn't reach Santiago anyway, I wanted to swim against the tide...
Tomorrow I fly to Bilbao to start my 5th stint on the Camino. I did the Frances in three parts (2016, 2017 and 2022). Last year I did the Portuguese from Porto. I did the first 200 km of the...
I thought I had this all figured out, but I have ended up with 2 train tickets from San Sebastian (I don't even know if it's the airport or the town) to Irun, instead of ONE that goes all the way...
I use Alltrails a lot here in the US, in Iceland, on the Via Podiensis and a bit on the CF. Will it be useful on the Norte? For example, people here say the "warm up" from Biarritz to Irun (or...
