Walking the Camino Frances starting 5th May 2017
Hello, I'm Dani!
20 years old from the UK.
I am walking the Camino Frances solo this May - looking at flights from London Stansted -Biarritz, arriving at 17:05 on 5th May. I wondered if anyone had any advise on getting to SJPDP the same evening? I have looked at trains/buses and there is one at 18:05 from Bayonne, or its a case of waiting until 21:10. My main concerns are; a) getting through security and to Bayonne station within an hour to catch the 18:05, and b) not getting to SJPDP until 22:30 with nowhere pre-booked or any open albergues at this time?
Is anyone travelling the same day and would share a direct transfer from Biarritz to SJPDP? Or any advise on the best thing to do?
Thank you in advance and I hope to cross paths out there!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The Pilgrim Office stays open until after the last train, and it will help you find a bed. You may make the earlier train/bus, but it won't be a disaster if you catch the last one. Buen camino.

I doubt this plan will work but here goes ... Your only chance to get from Biarritz Airport to Gare Bayonne in time to catch the 1806 bus is as follows:

Taxi from Biarritz Airport to Gare Biarritz

Catch 1745 SNCF train from Gare Biarritz to Gare Bayonne arriving 1755.

You'll need to be in a taxi not later than 1730.

Even though Biarritz airport is small ... the landing time is usually the time the plane touches the runway. It will likely take a minimum 30 minutes to deplane.

If I were you, I'd stay the night in Bayonne and catch the 0745 bus to SJPdP in the morning. Service is currently provided by bus because the tracks were damaged by spring runoff earlier this year.

Take Chronoplus bus #14 from Biarritz/Anglet airport to Gare Bayonne. There is a hotel called Monte Carlo located close to the Gare.

Other option is Express Bourricot, a private hire taxi based in SJPdP that caters to pilgrims.

Thank you so much for your help - I guess all I can do now is wait and see if anyone would be willing to share a transfer and go from there :)

Brilliant - thank you for your help :)

Last year in May I took the late train and got to the Pilgrim Office in SJPP about 10.30pm to get my Credencial. They also found me a bed for 15 euros including breakfast.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

Hi Devon, thanks for your help. I don't suppose you remember the name of the place you stayed do you? :)
