Camino Frances - O Cebreiro to Santiago - Distances when not using albergues

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Ingles from Ferrol; Camino Portugues from Valenca do Minho; Camino Frances from O Cebreiro - October 2014
We will be a small family group walking the Camino Frances from O Cebreiro to Santiago in October from 9-10 days. I have planned 2 Caminos before, but not the Frances. We will not be staying in albergues, but mostly in casas rurales on or off the route. Since we will have a young girl with us, I am trying to keep the distances to around 20K per day. The problem is I can't find a map that shows both the Camino Frances and the map of Galicia showing other towns besides where the albuerges are. Where we are staying off the Camino, we will travel in taxi from the Camino to the casa rural or they will pick us up from the Camino, so I don't want to count those distances in our kilometer total for the day. Can anyone give me a lead as to how or where I could find info on the distances? If I had a Camino map that I could overlay on a detailed map of Galicia, that would be perfect, but I don't think that exists. Help? Thank you so much. Ceci

Ceci,

What an adventure you are planning!

Try this comprehensive web site in English from Turgalicia . The on line inter-active map shows the French route in Galicia with nearby accommodation and other facilities. It uses a Google map base.

Also on line use the Mundicamino site for the CF Etapa 28 and higher. Hit Trazado/Perfil to see a schematic map of the Etapa and then hit Hospedajes to see regular tourist accommodation for that section.

Another useful printed map in a booklet format is the Michelin 160 which covers all the CF and shows the nearby area with places to stay, etc. You can order this from Amazon.

Happy planning and Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

Thank you so much for your quick reply, Margaret Meredith. I have planned places to stay. Some people tell me that the distances are OK for what I want, but others say they are much longer, hence the confusion, which I believe comes from the distance of some of the casas rurales from the Camino. I don't want to count that, since we won't be walking that, but it's difficult to find out exactly what that distance is. I have consulted the Turgalicia website, which is great, but I still can't get all the information I need from there. I will order the map you suggest. Perhaps that is the answer. Si sabes de algun lugar que esta escrito solo en Espanol, tambien hablo Espanol. Thanks again!
