I have just received my regular edition of the Málaga newsletter with the following as the leading item...
Iglesia de Santiago - This emblematic church in Calle Granada has been closed for restoration work for 18 months. It reopened its doors last week and looks amazing. You can see some photos here. Highlights include the stunning painted ceiling and the retablo. Don't forget to look for Picasso's baptism certificate - he was christened here - and admire the stunning façade that includes the typical Camino de Santiago symbol, used on the pilgrim's way to Santiago in Galicia. Open weekday mornings and during mass at weekends.
It is indeed a beautiful church and now pilgrims starting the Mozárabe in Málaga will once again be able to obtain the first stamp in their credencial here.
If you are interested in this route you are welcome to take a look at my blog where I posted live every day from my walk in 2015. See link in signature line.
