I will be in portugal in september, and want to extend my stay at Muge, Salvaterrade, Mergos, Santareim ( located in the Tagus Valley), and do a portion of the camino portugues. Can anyone advise if my destination is anywhere near an entry point to the Camino there?

Hi! Bom caminho!

Your location, as listed, is a bit confusing. Muge is one town, and Salvaterra de Magos is another, both within Santarem district. (To add confusion, Santarem is a big city in its own right; the capital for the district of Santarem.) Santarem is a significant city on the caminho, and you could go on from there.

You would have to get across to the other side of the Tejo (Tagus) to reach Santarem. Rome2Rio is probably your best bet for finding a way of doing that. I've referenced the Muge>Santarem route.

Looks like there's a bus you could catch, very easily. The #901!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Wonderful, and thank you! I have no idea where my destination lay. I wrote down the location just as it was stated in my travel itinerary. You have got me started on sorting this out. So excited to try the CP!
