camino portugues with teens

Hi friends,
I'll take the camino portugues with my 15 yrs daughter. 5 days starting in porto to Tui (inland way), and 5 days back from Tui to porto (coastal way).
can you recommend attractions on the way? (something that can be a nice break in between, so not only walking)

Why don´t you walk the entire camino portugues on to Santiago? In August 2017 I met a mother with her 15years old daugther, who really enjoyed it. The daugther liked meeting up with other pilgrims, especially with a group of Italians who "adopted" her.

Walking part of the camino the opposite way will be a very lonely pleasure.

I did something similar from sierra to SDC. In our case a motivation "I'm doing this for....." helped. As there was no network data coverage on her mobile phone plan, sad to say but WiFi was another motivation to get to the next town as well as food..... We made it through the rain and have fond memories of it!

One idea is to allow your daughter to make the daily decisions. Give her the gift of making it a Camino experience - and to take some responsibility for you in the process.

My 15 year old grandson and I (at 65) started from St. Jean Pied de Port last June for two weeks. We did not plan any activities ahead of time - I told him I would get him to our starting point and from there he was in charge. He made decisions about getting up, pace, stops, meals, Albergues (wifi being essential, lol). We had a wonderful, wonderful time.

BUT I never thought about the disservice I did by giving him the Camino "bug" so early in his life. He thinks we should plan to go back after high school graduation (earlier if possible). I insist that his next Camino will be when he takes himself. We shall see, since I also have the "bug" and will happily go alone or with a willing companion...

In Tui consider staying at Ideas Peregrina, the staff and food are lovely. Visit the fort in Valenca, nice shops and cafes. You could go to Vigo and visit Islas de Cies - day trip and highly recommended.
