Hello,
I will be walking the Camino Portuguese in Sept and was wondering about baggage transport services from Lisbon. I know there are services further on, but I was curious about them from Lisbon. All along the way I will stay in small hotels and not albergues. Also I will have hotel reservations each day before I walk. Any info would be great.

Hi, Ray,

If you look at this document that I compiled, http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/walking-shorter-stages-from-lisbon-to-porto.25614/ , you'll see there is information about three pilgrim accomodations, in Santarem, Tomar, and Alviaizere, who have gotten together to provide pack transport between their places, but only for people who stay there. I don't think there is any kind of pack transport service south of Porto, but a cab would surely do it for you, at a rate of approximately 1 euro a km. Bom caminho, Laurie

If you are interested i could compile a list for you where I stayed....i am still in Santiago and started the Caminho in lisbon on May 2.
I stayed partly in albergues and 60% perhaps in private pensaos or hotels, price range from 10 - 60 euros. As i am still traveling, the response time might be a bit longer.... But i'd be happy to compile list.
I traveled with about 8 kg and that was plenty (included also down sleeping cover) . I never heard about mochilas service from lisbon onwards. Or at all on the portuguese caminho... They might exist more on the frances.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Thanks for the help. I should be okay with housing. I know Jacotran and a few other transport services are available once we enter Spain, I was kind of hoping there would be a few services out of Lisbon however. In any case, if carrying a packback is the only way, well, it is the only way. We will be up for it. Thanks!!

Hi. Just back from the Portuguese route and the place we stayed the first night suggested our using a company called Tuitrans. Very reliable and not overpriced. We started just south of Tui; I'm not sure how far south into Portugal they go; I have a feeling they start in Porto. Their website is in English as well as Spanish, Portuguese etc. Have a look and see what you think. Buen camino
