I have been meaning to get a Camino tattoo for a while but have dithered over the artwork! There is plenty of examples on google. Anyone on here got a camino tattoo and what design, or anyone thinking about one? Thank you!
I have no tattoos but I thought that if I was going to do it then it would be a reproduction of one of my favourite stamps on my Credenciales. I haven't yet come to a firm decision but for inspiration have you seen the gable end mural alongside the Camino as it passes through old Logroño? I loved it.

Hey chef 66 after walking part of the CF with a Dutch guy who would constantly say he wasn't going to judge people. I asked him if it was his mantra which he said "I guess so"😃 I told him that I would be stealing it. After we said our goodbyes in Burgos I walked on alone. Went into a church and opened a bible. Opened on Mathew 7:1 "don't judge lest you be judged" picked up a cross in the church too which was a patriarchal cross (having become a father without being allowed access to my daughter). I spoke with an artist in Madrid about a shell tattoo, the cross and the quote and he came up with this tattoo concept. I prefer trusting the artist to figuring stuff out and what will work where as they have the artist I have the artistic mind. I have 2 more after other camino's but they are philosopher based ponderings from my walks. B61CBF0A-6727-4FA4-8B2F-F9532E23B5EB.jpeg

Not sure if you have any but it's most important that you love them. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks😃 buen camino

I wanted to get something that represented Camino to me personally. As we walked most mornings under the starry sky in the dark I got into the habit of finding the Big Dipper on the right and and Orion on the left... So I got a very minimalist Bid Dipper tattooed on my right foot. Maybe next time Orion on the left foot, who knows!

I have a "shell" tattoo on my breast bone. I looked at google, took a simple design and worked with the tattoo artist. And, I have a necklace with a small shell design that becomes part of the whole design when I wear it.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi! I got my original tattoos nearly 50 years ago!
But I wanted something to mark my Camino and me.
My kids thought i was loopy and too old ha!ha! (bit strong considering they both have them) it didn't stop me getting it done though!
I like it and that's what matters;i will get the other arm done on my next Camino.😊

I have never been a tattoo person, unlike my children, and doing the Camino myself never thought of it as being a thing, though I love the designs people are showing here. I'm off to Jerusalem in June and I think I will get a tattoo there, as it is a pilgrimage thing there. https://razzouktattoo.com/ Maybe get some inspiration from this guy's website?

I want something that represents my CF 2011, VDLP 2021&22 as well as my Via Francigena in Italy 2018. I have an idea but not 100% just yet.

Finally got my Camino tattoo during my visit to Santiago. Small & simple but very happy 😊
Love it. If I were ever to get a tattoo it would be something small and subtle like yours. Which tattoo shop did you get it done at?

Nothing against camino tattoos at all, but only suggestion I would add is to consider waiting a few weeks after camino to consider a tattoo, if it's not already thought out or planned. We don't always make the best decisions on the spot when emotions are high.

Very good point Flog! We all have a friend who had a former partners tattoo haven’t we but seriously I did my first caminos in 2020 and was going to get a tattoo in 2020 on, but did another in 2021 and hope to do one this year so would have regretted that! !

Were all 3 done by the same artist? These are phenomenally good...

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
I wanted a Camino tattoo and planned on getting one when I finished. I found a tattoo studio in Santiago and had it done the day after I finished. I had googled Camino tattoos prior and I just wanted the shell, nothing fancy. The studio had a few examples as a stock design and I had it done on the back of my calf.
I'm planning a second Camino next year, and I will probably add the years and routes to the side of it (CF '21 CP '23).

Hi dbier,
Thanks. The first one with the cross was done in Madrid at opera tattoo theatre. The other two were done by Daniel almeida in Lisbon @allaprimalisboa

Im thinking of getting a tattoo with script along my forearm. Sadly Ive returned home now but the Camino is living on in my mind more than ever and Im soooo keen to return! So I was wondering about having something like Ultreia Et Susia... has anyone had this done? Thanks

Such great advice to let the artist be the artist. I want my first tattoo after my Camino and assumed I needed to have a drawing. Thanks!

Coming late to the party - I have a flecha amarilla on my right ankle (2015 - Leon to Santiago), a shell on my left ankle (2016 - Ingles), and Solvitur Ambulando on my left inside forearm (2018 - Baiona to Santiago). I completed another Baiona to Santiago (mostly routed differently from 2018) in May, and the image I have in my brain is a silhouette of the Cathedral - just an outline - on my right inside forearm. I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for online, so I may need to send images to an artist friend to take a crack at it.
