American Pilgrims Hospitalero Training

Hospitalero training offered through American Pilgrims is conducted in conjunction with its annual Gathering of Pilgrims and on other occasions during the year. The NEXT TRAINING OPPORTUNITY will be in Menlo Park, California, January 13-15, 2012 at the Vallombrosa Retreat Center, Menlo Park, California in the San Francisco Bay area.

Remember that you must be a current member of American Pilgrims to register for training. Not a member? That's easy! Go to the Membership/Join page, click on the Join American Pilgrims shell link and follow the instructions. Last day to register for the training is January 3rd! Registration online is effective immediately.

Talk: The Camino de Santiago–A 500-mile walk across Spain
Saturday, January 21 2012, 7:00 p.m.

Join Marcia Shaver and Myrna Aavedal at the Seattle REI flagship store for an evening of information about the Camino de Santiago. The presentation will explain the historical and cultural background of the Camino and the practicalities of walking the route. A gear demonstration and Q&A session will follow. If you've heard of the Camino and are looking for more information (or you saw the film The Way) or if you are actively planning your trip, this talk will inspire and inform! Between them, the presenters have logged 2,000 miles on the Camino. Although not required, registration is recommended to secure a seat.

Durban:
The annual Camino workshop will take place in Durban on 23rd February:

Place: Maris Stella School – Stephen Dlamini Road (Essenwood Road), Durban.
Time: 8h to 12h30
Cost: R20 includes handouts and tea and any payment to be made to the security guards on the day.

As always, we ask you to please bring a food item for the Maris Stella community feeding project. Anything will do.

Different speakers will talk and give presentations on the different Camino routes, how to get there and back, what to pack, where to stay, a typical day on the Camino, money etc.
