The President of Murcia, Ramon Luis Valcarcel, was today in Caravaca de la Cruz to reveal the sculpture that came from the hands of the famous sculptor Antonio Campillo of Murcia, who died last year. The sculpture named ‘The Pilgrim’ was donated to the city of Caravaca to celebrate the jubilee Holy Year 2010, it represents an individual in full pilgrimage gear on a bike. It has been placed on the access to the esplanade to the Shrine of the Holy and Vera Cruz de Caravaca.
This was the last sculpture from Antonio Campillo
This sculpture, which will welcome all the pilgrims who visit the Holy City, “will become a great reference to these visitors, and, surely, will appear in the images representing Caravaca to the many that travel here from other parts of Spain and the world, “said the president. The pilgrim, a 2 meters high bronze figure symbolizes the journey traveled to reach the holy city.
