Hi all,
can anybody shed some information on travel from Carcassonne to SJPDP on 6th August. This is now looking like my revised departure date as I want to be completed by mid September.
Ryanair fly from Cork to Carcassonne, Cork is more convenient to me than Shannon but I am afraid that I may find it difficult and expensive to travel to SJPDP from Carcassonne. All help would be welcome.

Regards
John

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
This is along the Chemin du Piemont Pyrneen route that actually starts at Narbonne on the Mediterranean.

There are a number of guide books for this route but I bought this one (in French)

Your stages could be:

Fanjeaux 24,0
Mirepoix 27,0
Varilhes ou Pamiers 27,3
Le Mas-d'Azil 26,3
Saint-Lizier/Saint-Girons 16,0
Castillon-en-Couserans ou Argein 30,0
Juzet-d'Izaut 25,7
Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges 24,1
La Barthe-de-Neste 27,0
Bagnères-de-Bigorre 29,0
Lourdes 24,0
Asson 18,4

L'Hôpital-Saint-Blaise 15,6
Mauléon-Licharre 21,0

The other option is to turn South at Oloron Ste Marie and walk the Aragones route over the Somport Pass to Puente La Reina.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Oops! My mistake - thought you were going to walk there!! (Might not be a bad idea with the overcrowding on the Camino Frances!)

You could get a train to Bayonne and then to St Jean.
Check out the SNCF website at: http://www.ter-sncf.com/languedoc/index.asp (click on English version - bottom right hand corner)

Carcassonne to Bayonne:

Départ : 06h 07 Arr: 12h 03 Départ : 07h 29 Arr: 13h 40 Départ : 09h 11 Arr: 13h 55

Départ : 18h 35 Arr: 00h 09

Bayonne to St Jean:

You can get a train (± 1 hour)

http://www.voyages-sncf.com/leisure/fr/launch/home/

BAYONNE 12h00 ST JEAN PIED DE PORT 13h13
BAYONNE 15h06 ST JEAN PIED DE PORT 16h19
BAYONNE 18h13 ST JEAN PIED DE PORT 19h35

OR - You can get a bus: Bus timetable: http://www2.ter-sncf.com/Images/Bayonne ... -21351.pdf

Hope this helps!
