Hi all, we did this route on Tuesday, 7 March, and while we found the way up slightly challenging with the steepness and the snow/ice on the broken Roman road it was very manageable.
The shock came when we reached Fuente de Fuenfria which looked like a snowy wonderland … delightful at first but then quite treacherous as the deep snow went on and on and on … possibly 8-10 kms of very difficult walking … we were using poles and gaiters but no crampons.
We had checked various sources before heading off and all indicators were that the path would be manageable.
We are so grateful to have arrived in Segovia unharmed and as we looked back up toward the mountains over the next two days ( we had a rest day in Segovia for IWD & to recover from the trauma) it appeared there was much more snow being dumped.
Just sharing this to ensure others remain safe on their camino.

What brand is your poncho in the photo?

It is hard Cercedilla Segovia with snow. What you reached is "Puerto de la Fuenfria". There is a "Fuente de la Fuenfria" that is a fountain 400 mts down on a path on your right.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

What brand is your poncho in the photo?
Ferrino Trekker.
They are fabulous in cold weather. They have a silver lining that reflects back your body heat.
I bought mine online in Australia from Peregrinoteca in Sarria. The red one has seen 8 caminos (February- April timing) and still going strong.

That would have been a tough walk in the snow, well done. I've just ridden up from Cercedilla and over to Segovia touring on a MTB which was hard enough.
