CF questions on weather and accommodation

Hi , we are starting the Camino Frances on the 19th of October, as it’s our first Camino I’m wonder what is the weather like for that time of year ? and should we bring a heavy jacket for the early starts in the morning?? and as my husband snores we will be looking for a double room so I’m not sure the difference between a pensione or a B&B ? Thank you so much in advance of your help

I have walked 3 times in October-November and it is a nice time to be walking. In Galicia, you can expect rain and in other areas you can expect occasional chilly mornings.

I would never bring a "heavy jacket." You can just wear your fine-weather walking clothes, and layer up with something else you have for the evening. With an extra light layer or 2 (or a medium layer) and/or rain jacket, as well as a buff or scarf and gloves, you will be quite warm enough. You can wear all your clothes on a cold day, as long as you keep one layer dry for the evening.

I’m not sure the difference between a pensione or a B&B ?

You will find accommodations in hostels, inns, and albergues that offer double rooms all the way along the Camino. I would suggest that you visit Gronze.com for information on rooms in the specific towns that you plan to stop in. A number of those accommodations are directly linked to Booking.com which might offer even more choices. Keep in mind that accommodations can also be contacted directly through their websites or by email to make inquiries about rooms. You’ll also see that in addition to just beds, some albergues offer private double rooms for pilgrims. If you’re planning on booking in advance, as you want rooms not just beds, now would be the time to do so. If you’re not sure about booking for your entire Camino, at least do so from SJPP through Pamplona. Buen Camino.

I'll be a day behind you - bummer! My third time on the Camino this time of year. Weather -wise I would advise you to be prepared for cold rain but the majority of days likely to be lovely!

Thank you for thinking of others and lots of other pilgrims snore and so you don't have to only use private rooms. You will both blend in fine at albergues.
