Change of Albergue in Burgos due April 2008

According to the 2008 Miam-Miam-Dodo, a new municipal albergue hosting 100 is due to open in April 2008 in Burgos at calle Fernan González 32, next to the cathedral.

The wooden albergue-in-the-park on the western side of the city should be closing when the new one opens.

It will be nice to have the albergue closer to the centre, but I did like the one in the park, quiet, but rather out of the way if one wanted to go into town.

I haven't been able find info direct, the Burgos Amigos del Camino are one of the few that don't have a web site (at least that I can find) http://www.galice.net/camino_santiago/camino_de_santiago_asociaciones.htm

Regards
Mike

There is also the "Divina Pastora" albergue at No 10 cale Lain Calvo, a few meters from the cathedral with 18 beds and free internet. You need to climb a spiral staircase to reach the dorm - a bit of a bugger after the looooong walk on pavements and roads into the centre of the town. The albergue is in need of "hospitaleros"or "hospitaleras". If you'd like to volunteer send an e-mail to: ovidiocampo@eresmas.com or alberguedivinapastora@yahoo.es

I stayed at the one that Sillydol mentions for 3 days when I hurt my foot. The hospitalero was kind but would not allow anyone he thought had not walked to stay there. At night he played guitar, sang, and some pilgrims would dance. It was our bedtime ritual. One night, a sunday night, I was in bed, since it is curfew time and lights out at 10pm , and I could hear the bar downstairs stacking chairs, cleaning up and what was funny is there were children laughing, playing and I was thinking, "hmmm, what's wrong with this picture?" But,yeah, gotta get used to the curfew thing in some albergues.
Awake,
Lillian
