Charles Trepat - Recital at the Teatro Colón in A Coruña

Charles Trepat is a Catalan classical guitarist who usually performs using traditional/historical guitars. Here in A Coruna he performs on a 1892 Antonio Torres guitar which has silk and gut strings.

I find it delightful, not only because of music performed and the skill displayed, but also because the performance appears to be as intimate and personal to the audience as it is to the performer.

Regards
Gerard

Thanks so much! Exactly what I need at this precise momnt... peace and delicacy!!

Thank you for posting this! The artist plays with such emotion and the guitar has a lovely sound. I'll listen all the way to the last note. How I would have loved to catch a performance such as this while I was walking!

Thank you so much!! I really love the Capricho Catalán played on that Torres. My heretofore YouTube favorite of that is Jan Depreter's slow, languorous version & he plays it on a Fritz Ober that was based on a Torres so it makes sense this would hit the spot for me too.

I just spent an hour or so down a rabbit hole trying to find out more about the obscure (to me, at least) Magín Alegre (he composed the 2nd to last selection, Una Americana). Apparently he was, like Trepat, a Catalan as well as Miguel Llobet's first teacher & it was he who introduced him to Tárrega when he was 14. Somebody at the Italian section of the Delcamp Classical Guitar Forum has transcribed Una Americana as Carles Trepat played it for this concert at A Coruña & put it online there if anyone's interested in taking it for a spin themselves.

I so wish we could collect all of your wonderful selections (14 so far!) on one thread someday, @gerardcarey. That way, even if we comment just once, we will automatically be notified when you post a new one.

I see other forum members utilising one thread for ongoing posts. I guess I'll have to find out how to enable that. Makes sense. Thank you.
FYI. I'm planning another selection of Torres guitar performances from only Spanish composers, for my next post.
