Choosing a city to start?

I am definitely walking all of Frances but would like to walk some of Le Puy as well. I have the time to walk it all, just don't wish to spend that much time away. I was thinking somewhere in the middle of the Le Puy route, but what's a good city to start in?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Re: Choosing a city to start?

Any place that has a train station.
How much time\mileage you want to spend on this part?
options=Moisacq, Condon, Air sur L'adour...

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The whole Le Puy route is really beautiful. You can't go wrong. The only place I disliked was Decazville (a mining town) and it is immediately after Conques which is surely one of the most beautiful villages on earth. I am passionate about the Frances but more because of the atmosphere than the scenery.

Re: Choosing a city to start?

If you want to spend 15 days on the Le Puy route, then I suggest the following:
- Start at Le Puy (has train connection) the bit from Le Puy through Conques across the massif central is the best scenery in France, and Conques is matchless
- End at Figeac (has train connection) others will chime in on the best routing here. Probably need to get to Toulouse, then Bayonne to connect to SJPP
- Pick up at SJPP

Re: Choosing a city to start?

Conques is not a starting point, but it's certainly a highlight, not just of the Chemin but of Europe. Special. So, Le Puy - Figeac has a lot going for it.

Bon chemin
