Best wishes for everyone from Christmas day here in NZ.

May your Christmas day be what you desire.

Do have a great day, and Happy New Year in due course.

You might be on the other side of the planet, but your sense of humour is still where it started.

Enjoy the Pohutakawa for me, @Doughnut NZ !
Pohutakawas have a special place for me. When our beautiful and talented chestnut pony, Tumbleweed, died of old age we buried her on my friend Bob's farm and with Bob's help, planted a Pohutakawa on her grave so that when we saw the beautiful red flowers at Christmas we would remember her.

Now that Bob has also died I share the memory of them both whenever I see a Pohutakawa in bloom.

A pō'hutu'kawa just beyond my front door taken on this Christmas eve.
To the left is a tūī feeder. Tūī have a long bill, just perfect for getting nectar from flowers and flax (a small sample just to the right of the tree.
My suburb is full of these trees, especially to the sides of many roads.
Pō'hutu'kawa are known as the Christmas tree as nearly all give their best show from around 20 December each year.

Kia kaha, kia māia, kia mana'wa'nui tatou (you all be strong, patient and confident) and get going when you can.

Hey, Meggins, happy holidays! I spent four freezing winters there and never got tired of the snow. (I hope you are in the half who rejoices when it starts snowing as opposed to the other half who can't wait for May.)
