Thanks for the reply, but all of our route is in France. For information on individual albergues, you will need to use an up to date guidebook or online information sources like the Spanish Eroski website (http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es/). They also have an app. From what I read in my guidebook, I think not a lot of albergues are closed in october, most of them are open up until and including october.
Thanks for the reply. We did the Camino Frances starting from St. Jean Pied de Port last year, but in April/May so there was no question.I do not know about leaving Geneva, but from Le Puy, some places will close at the end of October. "Sufficient number" is in the eyes of the beholder! The chambres d'hotes are owner-occupied, so are never really closed unless the owner is on vacation. Hotels are always open. Gites are likely to be locked, so you need to find someone with a key. As always, it will be necessary to call ahead to find out what is open and arrange for keys. Hosts do not sit around waiting for pilgrims. If you don't call ahead to arrange your arrival, most places will be closed. Do not plan early arrivals; typically you will be welcome after 4 p.m.
Bon chemin.
I'm sorry, must've been sleeping when I commented. Bon chemin! Thanks for the reply, but all of our route is in France.
