Coastal Weather April

Time of past OR future Camino
Portuguese coastal (2020)
I am trying to work out what minimal clothing is necessary to walk the coastal route in first two weeks of April (start in Porto). Weather obviously is the issue. I know I will need a light weight rain coat but what about "warm" clothes"?

My plan was just a wool long sleeved undershirt and a zip up fleece jacket (with the rain jacket over the top as an added layer if necessary). Do you think I would need more substantial upper body clothing for walking a this particular time of year?

Sounds like you would be very hot wearing heavier layer like that. Records suggest Porto has highs of low 20's and lows of 9 (celsius) in April.

Hi,I did the Portuguese Coastal Camino last April and I had tremendous thunderstorms for the first week, not cold but very wet, and there is little shelter when you are doing the Costa Littoral
A local told me it was normal !

Further to my post, I was in lightweight fleece, waterproof jacket and trousers a lot for the first week but it was very exposed on the coast. A local told me it was common at that time of the year but it tended to get worse later in the day.So I would set off as early in the morning as my senior years would allow! The second week was much better as you move inland, short sharp downpours, I bought a cheap small lightweight umbrella to save having to put waterproofs on and off all the time.
But you never know with the weather !
I would still do it again despite the bad conditions, so go prepared and enjoy your Camino.
Buen Camino

I walked from Porto in early May this past spring, turning inland after the first two days and only had one day of rain and overall good temperatures.
