When I walked in July, I got overtaken the other side of Astorga by a large Italian going at a terrific pace. "Don't try and keep up with me", he warned, "I'm flying, I'm superman, Speedy Gonzales, that's me, Speedy Gonzales". He was right he was gone. really made me laugh and I often wondered what progress he was made. Imagine when I got the train back from Ponferrada I could here a loud Italian ranting at anyone who would hear about the Camino, and there he was.................foot in bandages. As he hobbled, he face was etched in pain. He was muttering about hospital.

This trip as I continued from Ponferrada, a large Spaniard overtook me and he taught me how to say Burgos. I caught up with him as he was chatting to a farmer who had taken a horse and its foal for water. Then he overtook me again. I named him Speedy Gonzales 2. Kept seeing him. Then disaster, I spotted his sweat soaked 'Espana' hat lost on the 'Way'. I had no option to run and catch him up, and catch him up I did. He was very happy to get his hat back and amused at my exhausted state. Not recommended running in 34° heat, with a pack on you back, even if it is for Speedy Gonzales 2. Last saw him returning to Madrid. Gracias amigo for making me smile!
