Compostela for Bicigrinos?

Dear Bicigrinos,

My friend and I are planning on biking the Camino Frances. I hiked the CF in 2019. He is under the impression that since we will bike it and not hike it, that we will not receive a Compostela upon arriving in Santiago. I'm guessing that if we have pilgrim's passports that are stamped accordingly, that we should receive a Compostela from the Pilgrim's Reception Office in SDC. I figured that I'm come here to ask the experts in this forum. Thanks in advance to all who chime in.

Hi Anthony18,
Not an expert myself, but I've been reading from the experts. I had recalled that 200 km of biking are required to earn the Compostela. Searched, found this site.

https://galiwonders.com/en/blog/how-to-get-the-compostela-certificate/

They write:
========

What are the requirements to get the Compostela certificate?

-Making the Camino de Santiago for faith or other spiritual reasons

-Walking the last 100 km on foot or horseback or cycling 200 km by bike, until reach the Cathedral. Except for people with disabilities, it is not allowed any other way to arrive to Santiago, if the purpose is to get the Compostela.
========

They offer additional counsel for bicigrinos in that section, which you can pursue at the website.

If you're riding the full CF, then you'll have well over the 200 km. If you want just enough on the Frances to qualify, galiwonders.com recommends starting in Ponferrada.

Buen camino, and may your gears always mesh nicely.

Thank you HKim! I truly appreciate your assistance. I'll go and check out that site. Buen camino sir!

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
As a Bicigrino I can confirm that its two (200) hundred KM. So basically you will need to cycle from Molinaseca. But if starting in Leon or Burgos or further East you will have no issues. Just remember to get those two (2) stamps daily in your passport for the last 200km. Happy cycling. Beun Camino.

Ivan. I believe I can rent two bikes through you between Burgos and Leon. Can you let me know if this is possible? I plan to arrive in Burgos on 11 May and start cycling the next day. Thanks
Plan to cycle between Burgos and Leon over three or four days. Are there any interesting detours between these two cities that would take up a 4th day?
