Can I Use the Same Book for Compostela a Year Later from Sarria or Do I Need to Start a New One?

Please - only if you know for fact: I walked in sept 2022 from SJPD to Burgos - got all my stamps in each place along the way. Now, March 2023 going back and “continuing” from Sarria to Santiago. Would like to use same book and receive Compestello. Can I use same book or because of break in walk do I need to start new book?

frannie z,
As far as the Pilgrim's Office is concerned it is walking at least 100 km into Santiago on a known camino route that matters. Breaking your earlier journey and recontining is of no consequence.
Be sure to get 2 stamps per day for those last 100 km.

Buen camino!

I actually had a similar question but that also finds an answer in what is said here: I had my passport prepared and stamped for last year's Primitivo, which then never happened as I preferred to visit the emergency room instead ;-) Now I was wondering if I could still use the same passport for (hopefuly) this year's Primitivo. But as it looks I should not have a problem even though the first date is last year's date

Yes, I volunteered at the pilgrim’s office and many pilgrim’s used the same book. I even saw pilgrim’s use the same book for different paths. Buen Camino!

As others note, you can use the same book so long as you get two stamps per day from Sarria. For the Compostela certificate, they don't really care too much about where you did or didn't walk before the last 100 km. That only comes into play if you are looking to buy a distance certificate.

Please elaborate on the Distance Certificate.
