Le Puy - Conques (June 13 -July 5 2014) - Conques - Lectoure (June 21 - July 7, 2015)
Hi all! My husband and I, along with my mother and a friend are starting off from Conques on June 21, headed for Lectoure. We walked from Le Puy to Conques last summer, so this is a continuation for us - someday we'll make it to Compostela!

Just checking to see a) if anyone is on the Chemin at the same time/place as us, and b) to see if anyone has passed this way recently and has anything of note to pass on.

This site has been so much help, both this year and last - so regardless of replies to this thread, a hearty thanks from all of us to all of you, and Bon Chemin!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I'm starting from LePuy on the 10th June and, if all goes to plan (big if), then I'll be passing through Conques on the 17th. I intend to blog my Chemin at www.gavineyre.com, so you may be able to glean some useful information from there.

That's great- thanks Gavin! We loved the first section, though I must say that there were a few very challenging days - the French don't believe in switchbacks, so sometimes the route goes directly up some very steep gravel hills. If you don't have trekking poles, I would strongly recommend finding some, or a staff, before you go!

Hi Anna, My husband and I walked that route and from Figeac I can highly recommend taking the Cele Valley route - there are 3 options to take from Figeac. The Cele Valley one is absolutely beautiful and the village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie is straight out of a fairy tale! Enjoy.

If, as sometimes happens, you can't get accommodations on the Célé route, the detour from the main route to St Cirq la Popie is still an option and very much worth your time. En route I was the only guest in a small hotel in Concots. Though headed for a destination that sees thousands of tourists, I felt like I was totally on my own trip.

Thanks all! I don't think we'll be able to manage the Cele route - we already have booked accommodation the whole way (because I'm just Type A like that), and I'm not sure there's really flexibility. Will look at maps and see how we could maybe do it though, I've been reading about how marvelous it is.
