Getting from Conques to Nice in April: Advice from fellow Pilgrims

Needing recommendations on best way to get from Conques to Nice, France early April. I've looked at the Compostel'bus and look like it may not be running back to Le Puy that early in the season. Yes I've looked at rome2rio but want some anecdotal advice from other Pilgrims.....

Maybe the local bus to Rodez, and the rest by train ?
