Coolest, shadiest Route in June

Coming this month - June 2018. Deciding route.
Coming in the heat of summer, so hoping to choose a way with more leaf, less heat and one that is not foetid and trashed. So, any suggestions on the greenest. Also, one where the local people may still be happy to see pilgrims. I read somewhere that a french section ( Le Puy?) had see a great drop in pilgrims. Perhaps, they'd still be happy to have a traveler there. Shall I contact the sleeping places in advance? How? Thank you so much for your responses.

Le Puy is still busy.

There are few forested stretches; too much civilization for that. Some parts are downright desert!

The Brierley guidebook May have the best breakdown of road, trail, or path. Buy it and read it.
