I'm uploading videos, pics and commentary to my blog tonight. Will post links tomorrow.

Ok, it's not an albergue....
It's not exactly cheap, but not much more than a double room at a casa rural.

This afternoon, we lay on the soft grass at the centre of the cloisters under the shade of a tree, as the sound of monks chanting (ok a recording) echoed softly around us.

Our room is above the cloisters....

The adjoining church was empty as we sat and gave thanks for allowing us to discover this oasis of peace and serenity. Just when we most needed it.

We asked if it was possible to stay another night. They had just one room left. We took it!

I may spend all day tomorrow in the cloisters and the church!

For anyone on a spiritual journey, this is an ideal stop to recharge.

Can anyone guess where we are?

Almost half way on the CF.

Pics and videos coming tomorrow.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Right in one!!!
Thank you. I’m booked here in October, and hoped it would be a wonderful rest stop. In four Caminos, I’ve never found anyone who stayed here.

We stayed there last year. It is a nice as you describe.

BUT..... be warned.

We checked in and argued.
The next couple checked in and argued.

Why?

We both booked with Booking dot com
We both booked a Double room.
The Hotel then charged us €25 extra because a Double room is only for a Single person.
The Hotel charged us €25 for the second person in the Double room

BEWARE

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
In for a penny, in for a pound.

We didn't have any problems.
Though i have noticed a few times when using booking.com that there 'appeared' to be a cheaper double room available. Same specifications....

On closer checking, this is usually a double room, with a single occupant only!

Maybe that was the case? Easy not to spot it....

We stayed there during our Camino last September and wished we had stayed an extra night. Great place. I vaguely remember that the lady at check in had some attitude but it wasn’t personal as she applied it to everyone who checked in!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
We stayed there a week ago. Fantastic luxury only slightly more expensive than a basic habiacion in a casa rural or one star hostel. They even have an electric shoe brush to get some of the dust off your boots.

My wife and I stayed there one night last June. It was definitely a nice place to spend the night. And yes, only a few pilgrims besides us.
They had AC which was very welcome after a day's walk during last year's ola de calor.

That does not sound to be a very good result, especially from booking.com.

AC has been an interesting experience this Camino. Nice to have it now and again....

We had a bit of a 'Faulty Towers' moment in Burgos.

The short version.....

Our AC doesn't work.
That's because the weather is not warm enough. So we have the heating on. (It was a really hot day)

But we booked the hotel because you have AC.

we do..... it's just not turned on right now!

Ok. We'll cancel and go elsewhere.

Sure no problem.

Will we get a refund?

No....

2 hours later and a few phone calls with booking.com we moved, with no charge...

Since then we have encountered other Spanish hotels with AC. that is not turned on.... must be the thing here?

Parador at Leon?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
