I don't know if a pilgrim passport is necessary or why it is. But since now I don't have enough time, could I get it at Madrid before I start the walk?

Dare I say you seem rather underprepared for your camino - maybe a study of this forum would help.
If you intend to stay at pilgrim alberques - as most do - then you will need a credencial (pilgrim passport), which you present at the alb when you arrive, and which will be stamped. If you want a compostela when you reach Santiago, you need at least 2 stamps a day from places in the last 100kms before SdC, if that makes sense.
I'm sure you can get a credential in Madrid - no doubt someone on here will post the info,
Buen camino.

If you look in this web adr it´s a place where you can by a credencial. I bought it there last year. On the website they have there openingtimes. If this does´nt work for you you can buy a credencial at the Iglesia Parroquial de Santiago. The church and the association is close to Puerta del Sol in the citycenter of Madrid,

God luck, Roger
