Counting down the days

We are counting down the days before we leave for The Camino! So many emotions…feeling excited and nervous and everything in-between. Just about to book our train trip from Madrid to Leon and some accommodation in Leon for a well-earned rest after a mammoth flight from Australia. Quick question - should I purchase John Brierley's guide and a pilgrim's passport before I leave, or are they readily available in Leon?

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
You could always get the guide before you leave and read it on the flight :) Don't know if you've flown long haul before but I swear by compression knee high socks - used Injinji toe socks version last time (on sale at the moment).

Been Camino - you'll meet lots of Aussies along your Way.

If you are short for time and doing the CF and are near the Blue Mountains, I can give you a copy of the Brierley guide that you could replace later (I go in Sep).

You will also find route details, guides, elevations and a wealth of material under the resources tab on the home page of this great website including lists of Albergues with contact details and even frequency maps showing pilgims and places and density.

We have at least 7 of our Supporters Group over in Spain now on different Caminos so you may see them.

Thankyou, that is very kind of you…we are in Melbourne. I was going to order online, but left it a little late. I will download a copy of the albergues from here, and hopefully purchase a guide when I get to Spain. I do have a copy here that a friend who did the Camino last year lent me, but I don't want to take that away with me - it's her precious copy and I'd hate to lose it :)
